Porcelain Veneers

Have you ever dreamed of a perfect smile? Do you have broken or stained teeth that you hope can be fixed one day? Or perhaps you want to fix those embarrassing gaps between your teeth?

Porcelain veneers may be the solution you are looking for. Because they can change the size, shape, and color of a tooth, they can be used for a variety of purposes.

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that cover just the visible portion of your teeth, typically just the front and the biting surface. They are created using porcelain, which makes them strong, stain resistant, and long lasting. Of course this is dependent on your oral care and hygiene. Porcelain veneers are custom made to bond firmly and permanently to the natural surface of your teeth, making them appear natural and flawless.

A dental crown, (often referred to as a cap) is a restoration that covers the entire visible surface of a tooth. A crown is custom made to fit your individual tooth, and will not only protect and strengthen that tooth, but also restore it to its original size and shape.

Your dentist may recommend a crown for several reasons

  • The tooth may be broken or severely damaged by decay and unable to be restored by a traditional filling
  • The tooth may have a surface crack
  • Wear and tear due to heavy grinding
  • Maintaining or restoring the shape, size, and appearance of natural teeth

There are 2 commonly used types of bridges that can be made to fit your specific needs:

Traditional bridges are the most common type of bridge, and involve creating a crown for the tooth or implant on either side of the missing tooth, with a pontic in between

Cantilever bridges are used when there are adjacent teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth.  This is not used as much with the new technology available in dentistry.

Composite Fillings

A composite filling is a tooth colored filling that mimics the natural appearance of your tooth. They are made from a resin material that is bonded to your tooth. Along with other benefits, these natural fillings are durable and beautiful.

Typical reasons for composite fillings include:

  • Bonding of chipped teeth
  • Repair of cracks or fractures
  • Resurfacing of worn enamel
  • Removal of decay
  • Replacement of old amalgam (silver) fillings
